Miss California ~ Carrie 'the Hypocrite' Prejean

Irony is a funny thing. The wingnuts jumped on the 'biblically correct' Carrie Prejean's bandwagon in support of this 'good little Christian girl' and her views on same sex marriage. They preached about her morals and her values and how the 'immoral liberal left' shouldn't condemn her right to free speech. That of course was regardless of the FACT that Miss USA is supposed to UNITE, not DIVIDE... and the ending of her response to Perez's question in the Miss USA pageant definitely caused a strong division.

Heck, the right even lifted her to icon level right along side Sarah Palin.

I wonder if the uber conservative holier than thou right are now eating their words.

Little Miss Morals posed half naked just a year ago! Now she claims she did it when she was 17 (a MINOR I might add). Regardless of when she did it, she failed to disclose this to the pageant. Big No No!!

Morally righteous Christian girl my hiney!!! I'd say hypocrite is more befitting.

David Schuster wants to vomit. LOL

LOL Jim, Schuster was a riot on this topic.

Prejean has lied on numerous occasions. If Trump thinks that's an appropriate role model (as Miss California should be), then he sure has set the bar low in regards to standards.

Unfortunately, this is yet another case where a supposed Christian has chosen to pick and choose which values and morals they'll uphold. Obviously lying and public nudity is what good Christian girls do, but heaven forbid a gay couple exercises their cival rights to be wed. I just don't get it.

If we do something which is pioneering, we will get arrows in the back. But at the end of the day, whether we succeed or not, the journey will be worthwhile.

Lil' Girl needs to put some clothes on. Makes you wonder what kind of parents she had. I defended her in one of my blogs.

I thought at the time that she gave an honest opinion. I respected that. I hate when people say one thing, and actually do the opposite.

Thus my 'hypocrite' comment Waynette!

Thank you for understanding my view point on this issue!!!

You may (or may not) be aware of this but I have a gay brother. He's been with his partner for upwards of 30 years. Outlasting most heterosexual relationships these days. He didn't choose to be this way. Why would anyone choose a life where they're hated on to such a large degree? They wouldn't, no one would! It's not a choice, God made them this way!

What bothers me most about those who believe they're holier than thou is that they pick and choose what segments of the Bible they'll uphold. Here's a portion of an email I wrote a friend yesterday...

Thank you Jason! In answer to your question, NO, you're not supposed to love your daughter less. God CREATED your daughter to be just the way that she is! If you study up on theology, the MEN who wrote the bible had issue with many things, one of course being homosexuality. It seems that there was a vast number of homosexuals back in the time, and those MEN (even way back then) showed prejudice towards that which they did not understand.

In reference to why folks think that way, well, they think the way they do because of their own ignorance, not because of anything they've truly studied from within the Bible. I love how holier than thou supposed "Christians" feel that they have the RIGHT to judge and condemn, yet they commit sin after sin after sin. If you're truly going to uphold the teachings of the Bible, then you can not pick and choose passages to fit your OWN personal agenda, you must abide by all of them! Including (but not limited to): "Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself." This passage can be found numerous times in Leviticus, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians and James. If one is supposed to love thy neighbor as thyself, then what gives any of us the RIGHT to judge thy neighbor???

Please read the following, it may give you even more understanding as to the fact that numerous passages in the Bible are indeed outdated, and do not apply to the world as it is today.

The Bible is a book about God -- not a book about human sexuality.

The Bible is the story of God's love for the world and the people of the world. It tells the history of God's love at work rescuing, renewing, and empowering humankind. It was never intended to be a book about human sexuality. Certainly, you will agree.

In fact, the Bible accepts sexual practices that we condemn and condemns sexual practices that we accept. Lots of them! Here are a few examples.

(part II)

DEUTERONOMY 22:13-21
If it is discovered that a bride is not a virgin, the Bible demands that she be executed by stoning immediately.
DEUTERONOMY 22:22
If a married person has sex with someone else's husband or wife, the Bible commands that both adulterers be stoned to death.
MARK 10:1-12
Divorce is strictly forbidden in both Testaments, as is remarriage of anyone who has been divorced.
LEVITICUS 18:19
The Bible forbids a married couple from having sexual intercourse during a woman's period. If they disobey, both shall be executed.
MARK 12:18-27
If a man dies childless, his widow is ordered by biblical law to have intercourse with each of his brothers in turn until she bears her deceased husband a male heir.
DEUTERONOMY 25:11-12
If a man gets into a fight with another man and his wife seeks to rescue her husband by grabbing the enemy's genitals, her hand shall be cut off and no pity shall be shown her.

I'm certain you don't agree with these teachings from the Bible about sex. And you shouldn't. The list goes on: The Bible says clearly that sex with a prostitute is acceptable for the husband but not for the wife. Polygamy (more than one wife) is acceptable, as is a king's having many concubines. (Solomon, the wisest king of all, had 1,000 concubines.) Slavery and sex with slaves, marriage of girls aged 11-13, and treatment of women as property are all accepted practices in the Scriptures. On the other hand, there are strict prohibitions against interracial marriage, birth control, discussing or even naming a sexual organ, and seeing one's parents nude.

Over the centuries the Holy Spirit has taught us that certain Bible verses should not be understood as God's law for all time periods. Some verses are specific to the culture and time they were written, and are no longer viewed as appropriate, wise, or just.

Often, the Holy Spirit uses science to teach us why those ancient words no longer apply to our modern times. During the last three decades, for example, organizations representing 1.5 million U.S. health professionals (doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and educators) have stated definitively that homosexual orientation is as natural as heterosexual orientation, that sexual orientation is determined by a combination of yet unknown pre- and post-natal influences, and that it is dangerous and inappropriate to tell a homosexual that he or she could or should attempt to change his or her sexual orientation.

While there are some people now living in heterosexual marriages who once perceived themselves to be gay, there are millions of gay and lesbian persons who have accepted their sexual orientation as a gift from God and live productive and deeply spiritual lives. The evidence from science and from the personal experience of gay and lesbian Christians demands that we at least consider whether the passages cited to condemn homosexual behavior should be reconsidered, just as other Bible verses that speak of certain sexual practices are no longer understood as God's law for us in this day.

Angie,

I can't even begin to understand why a person is homosexual, or why someone isn't. I personally think everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't believe in being judgemental. I don't want to be judged, so I try really hard not to judge someone else.

I supported Ms. California intially because I felt that she gave an honest answer. Whether I agree with her personally or not, I didn't think it should have been as big of a deal as the media made it. It's sad that she turned out to be not so truthful about herself.

Waynette, to try to understand homosexuality, we'd have to understand why we're heterosexual. I don't know why I was born this way, and one of my brother's wasn't.

I understand your intitial support for Miss Prejean. I've said this before, I think Perez Hilton blew this out of proportion. Even in the light of Prejean's lies and nudity, Hilton was still wrong. She did have the right to her opinion, but voicing it as a Miss USA representative was wrong. She did know that before she spoke. That's where my beef was with her. Now, of course, I have many more beefs with her. LOL

You're a Mom.. can you imagine allowing your 17 year old child to pose topless?

I am so overly protective of my kids. By the time they are 17, I will have probably figured out how to track them on radar.

Just the mere thought of what she did at 17, gives me chills.

LOL @ being able to track your kids on radar! Ya know, they do have those chips you can put in them (like they do dogs and cats). haha Just a thought!
