I was thinking...

Ya know, I was just sitting here thinking that if McCain and his supporters spent LESS time smearing Obama and his supporters, and MORE time talking about McCain's attributes (and the reasons why they believe he'd be the better choice to lead our Country), then maybe, just maybe, they could change a few minds! But, so long as the embellished, fictional smears, the degrading statements, and the down right ugly, condescending, holier than thou comments are being made, no minds will be changed!

Instead of focusing 100% of your efforts to try to convince me to hate my candidate, why not try to teach me to love yours!

This reminds me of something I learned as a child: You can win more flies with honey than you can with vinegar! Maybe someone should reiterate that to McCain and Palin too!

*smile*

the latest "rumor" I've heard is that now that Obama has all this support money, he's going to take it and move to Kenya and support that government...amazing...

Sadly Ruthe, there are those who WILL believe that!

Now if he actually DOES so, Angie ... is it gonna be really quiet in your corner for a while?

It's been said way too many times. Obama's chosen associations, both personal and philosophically, got him the criticism he's received. Like someone else around here says quite often: "You can't make this stuff up!"

McCain himself was the first to refuse to sink into the slingfest and has done so quite well. Questions about BO's somewhat frightening associations are quite logical from people who really want to know what they're getting into when they hit that lever.

Or is it that only the liberal press is allowed to "raise questions". If you think there's trouble now, try restricting the first amendment to only the press!

Solie, you may not feel it's a smear campaign, heck, you may even believe everything you hear.. but, can you at least admit that sometimes the ugliness goes overboard (and not just from the candidates)?

As far as being quiet, I can only speak for myself! I do believe, unless pushed over a ledge, that I've been respectful of everyone's opinions ~ though not so respectful of how they've been executed sometimes.

I came to the blogs to learn more, not view condensation.

I'd love nothing better than to have someone give it the ol'college try to convince me, with McCain's policies and attributes, that he'd be a better choice for me to make! Lee mentioned once that he felt he could convince me to change sides.. yet he's done nothing to alter my opinion. At least not in a manner that I'd listen.

Angie, someone once told me that if you like someone, by definition, you take them as they are. If you try to change them, there's a 69% chance you'll lose them (I got that figure from Mike Judge). Soooooo ... the most you can hope for is to show them your view and hope that, if they can't see similarly (read: agree with you) for themselves, they will take you as you are. See also spirited debate vs. assault and battery. heh

The $64,000.00 question for me is why the media is so in love with socialism? Does the media somehow think they will be exempt from government control as the cloud of big, do-everything government looms over the United States?

Martha ~ haha, I know that picture had nothing to do with my post, but I just loved it!! LOL @ "wanted", you're even more of a riot when you're medicated!!

Ruthe ~ Regarding the picture, now I can pretty much assure you that this one WAS photo-shopped!! LOL The word verification thing lately has been sad! I've been commenting on Martha's "E-Porn" blog and my word verifications have been: Sinner, Repent, Shameful ~ I'm thinking God is trying to tell me something!! hahaha

I think if John McCain had stayed true to himself and run as the person that we all admired back in 2000, he would have a good chance at winning this race. Sadly he made the choice to hire the folks to run his campaign that he detested back in 2000. They've distorted his good image and used the same old negative divisive politics that have caused this nation to be bitterly divided. I think most people are sick and tired of that and want something better! We'll know in a few days.

Jim ~ I think you're right (on everything you just said)! His campaign has soured many, not just me!
